Mahogany.
Chippendale style with leather top. Custom brass-covered foot rest. Reeded legs with decorative fret work. Under the hinged, hand-tooled leather top is a compartment for storage and beneath that, a functional drawer. Slides extending from either side of the desk might have originally held candles, but today could be used for additional work surface or any number of useful decorative ideas.
